**Your new company**

A local government on the north eastern suburbs of Perth. The roles requires professional support to internal stakeholders on communications, marketing, and engagement activities.

**Your new role**
- Coordinate, write and edit publications and collateral, including newsletters and annual reports.
- Proactively identify opportunities to profile the City's programs and services, coordinate and write media releases, media enquiry responses and secure media placements.
- Create content such as media releases, newsletters, social media posts, videos, photos, and internal news articles to profile the City’s programs, services, activities and achievements.
- Ensure that the City’s role in the funding and/or provision of services, activities, initiatives and facilities is promoted through the media and communications strategies.
- Maximise the exposure of the City in the media and social media by ensuring information, photos, videos and posts are transmitted in a timely manner.
- Performance measure, monitor, review and report on internal and external communications and media campaigns to ensure their efficiency, effectiveness and impact on the community and industry.
- Oversee the City’s photographic library, ensuring a substantive repository of up to date, inclusive and diverse photography is available at all times.
- Contribute to the development of the City’s Communications and Engagement Plan, monthly and quarterly reports and the business unit’s activities as required.
- Represent the Communications and Engagement business unit on cross-functional teams as required.
- Maintain excellent customer service with team members, internal and external stakeholders and effectively manage customer expectations.
- Ensure the tone and writing styles used in the City’s communications are appropriate to the target audience and aligned with the City’s Customer Service Strategy.
- Sit on the City’s Crisis Communications Team and be available to respond to crisis situations as required.
- Support the delivery of internal communication initiatives as required

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Demonstrated skills as a highly competent writer of copy and ability to investigate, write responses to media questions under extreme time pressure.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the news media process, what journalists look for in a story, and driving positive news coverage of an organisation’s achievements.
- Ability to efficiently plan and coordinate print and electronic publications; and the ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate specific communications projects, programs, strategies and events.
- Ability to write communications and media plans, effectively implement initiatives and measure successes.
- Sound understanding of communication tools and mediums.
- Well-developed project management skills.

**Essential Qualifications**
- Bachelor Degree or any relevant tertiary qualification in journalism, public relations, marketing, mass communications, English, or related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in media, corporate affairs, communications, or a related field
