About the Virtual Hospital Education Program (VHEP) (P-12)
The program's focus is to support students with continuity of learning and a successful transition back to school. Students engage in learning via individual lessons delivered online through Microsoft Teams.
VHEP delivers online lessons to students who are
- 1. Recently discharged from a Queensland hospital but not yet able to attend their base school.
2. Inpatients of Queensland hospitals where there is no onsite teacher.

About the Role
You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

- Instructionally lead the shared expectations, strategic use of resources, promote a positive and professional learning environment; and manage instructional programs.
- Work with the Queensland Hospital Education Program leadership team to achieve strategic plans associated with the VHEP program. This includes the co-leading with the Executive Principal and Head of School regarding the possible establishment of future regional sites that VHEP may be offered.
- Develop and support the professional development of the expanding VHEP teaching team.
- Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
- Coordinate the case management practices of teachers in supporting student transition back to their base school including students with that require extensive or substantial adjustments.
- Liaise with guidance officer, regional staff and school leadership to assist a successful student transition to base schools.
- Managing student allocation to teachers and monitor student progress into, during and out of the program.

An additional requirement - Vaccination against Preventable Diseases
This position requires the successful applicant to work in hospital and health settings, which have additional workplace requirements from Queensland Health.
It is mandatory for all roles that come into direct contact with patients to provide evidence of vaccination or proof of non
- susceptibility for the following preventable diseases: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (chickenpox) and Pertussis (whooping cough).
The successful applicant will be provided with official forms to be taken to their local GP for completion and boosters as required. The expectation is that staff have commenced this process before their first work day at QCHS. Any out-of-pocket costs are refunded to staff through QCHS reimbursement processes.
