The Head of Department - English role is ideal for an energetic, future-focused educator with a passion for leading change and improving student learning outcomes. This position offers the opportunity to shape and grow a dynamic English faculty, driven by a strong, student-centred approach. The successful applicant will bring a proven ability to build meaningful and professional relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community. As the Head of Department - English, you will lead the development of high-quality teaching and learning practices, supported by strategic resource management and a commitment to evidence-informed approaches. A key focus will be supporting the Department's 10-year reading commitment, ensuring consistent and effective reading instruction. Your strong relational and leadership capabilities will be essential in guiding the faculty and contributing to whole-school strategic initiatives.

Your Responsibilities

As the Head of Department - English, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
• Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
• Set high standards for student and staff performance.
• Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
• Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
• Be futures oriented and strategic.
• Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
• Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals
