Key to ensuring business progress, we have created a leadership opportunity within our EHS corporate team located at our HQ in Booragoon, that will strategically guide our operations forward by centralising, coordinating, and managing environmental approvals and licencing across our Australian mining, refining, and smelting locations.

Working closely and collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders, your talent for understanding business priorities and capturing critical requirements to align with long-term strategies will be optimal to achieving current and future approvals. In this role, your key contributions will be:
- Effective maintenance of Alcoa’s State Agreement, relevant scopes, schedules, and reporting of progress required to guide and develop a regional operational environmental approvals strategy.- Providing guidance and management of approvals requirements as per Alcoa’s State Agreement and other State and Federal statutory obligations.- Working closely with Major Capital Projects Approvals team to support approvals needs for critical works.- Supporting and guiding operational approvals for all sites, including mining, refining, and smelting as required.- Providing guidance on the development of technical studies for operational projects.- Identifying environmental headwinds and risks and providing strategic advice for regional operations.- Facilitating the implementation and managing compliance of operations against both State and Federal approvals.- Ensuring that our business and approvals needs are understood and received appropriately by representing Alcoa at State and Commonwealth government and regulator meetings.- Strategically advising on environmental management and compliance issues to our internal project teams and supporting escalation of critical issues.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, environmental management, natural resource management or related degree.- Extensive experience in the environmental field with a proven track record of managing complex environmental approvals and compliance matters at both a State and Federal level.- Demonstrated environmental approvals experience in both mining and industrial setting will be highly regarded.- Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of local, State and Commonwealth legislation relating to environmental assessment and compliance facilitation.- A strong leadership presence and a collaborative nature, with demonstrated management experience.- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and develop positive relationships across all levels of the business and is known for driving value through strong stakeholder relations.- A critical thinking mindset that fulfills their purpose by solving complex environmental challenges.- An open-minded leader that empowers and sets up others for success.
