Austrans was founded over 34 years ago and is now one of Australia’s premier logistics specialist having built a reputation of excellence and client satisfaction that has seen dominance across the FMCG sector, particularly in the Grocery and Liquor space. We are an intermodal operator for some of Australia’s biggest companies such as Aldi, Woolworths, Coles, CUB, Pact Group, Asahi, Bevchain, Snackbrands, Campbells, Lactalis in moving palletised ambient stock nationally.

With over 100 staff nationally across Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane we have complete end to end facilities and capabilities in these locations that provide leading logistics services.

Due to significant demand and growth over the past 12 months, we are now seeking a WA State Manager to work in conjunction with National Operations Manager and other State Managers to ensure service levels are maintained and the company consistently exceeds customer expectations. Also, it will manage the daily execution of the operational plan and to assume responsibility for the financial performance of the Perth depot. In addition, you will:

- Actively drive a safety-first culture for all staff and sub-contractors.
- Ensure compliance with Chain of responsibility (CoR) and other legislated procedures and policies.
- Provide input into Operations planning, financial budgets & KPI’s.
- Participate in weekly and monthly performance reviews. This would include commentary on the state performance against the state budget and developing strategies where required to improve performance.
- Accountability for variable labour costs & operational expenses.
- Liaise and support Business Development Manager with Customer relationships and development and implementation of any commercial arrangements.
- Drive and lead a culture which embraces continuous improvement, by continually challenging normal behaviour and developing and implementing strategies designed to improvement operational efficiency.
- Lead and develop an operations team to the highest standard whilst driving a team culture in line with the company values.

Industry experience will be well regarded particularly if you have previous management experience in the transport logistic intermodal industry or a similar area. Other areas of experience that will be important are:

- Previous experience with a P&L and managing an operation to a budget.
- Experience in managing customers and their expectations.
- Excellent communications skills and good attention to detail
- Ability to make quick and accurate decisions when assessing operational requirements.
- Manage, develop and lead diverse teams.
- A continuous improvement mindset
- Previous experience with award conditions and safety legislation.
- Tertiary qualification in business, logistics or other similar discipline.
