**About the Company**

WH Smith is a historic British retailer focusing on news, books and convenience, and is a renowned, competitive leader in the travel market worldwide. Operating across Airports, Hospitals and Train Stations, our Australian operations currently operate 7 diverse brands. As we thrive in our post-COVID recovery, we are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join us and support our growth. As a business, we believe in being safe, legal and compliant, and value each of our team members and their development.

**Position Summary**:
Our new Loss Prevention Manager will oversee the loss prevention function across the business, supporting and developing loss prevention procedures and efforts to safeguard company assets, prevent and minimise theft, and reduce shortages and fraud.

**Role responsibilities include**:

- Lead the development of strategies for identifying risk and detecting fraud in all areas of the business
- Perform audits of stores and support office processes to ensure compliance with company guidelines
- Conduct regular store visits to audit policy compliance and identify areas of opportunity and potential risks
- Implement and maintain strategies and controls to reduce product and commission line shrinkage across the business, including running the biannual physical stocktake program and being the main stakeholder liaison with our third party stocktake team.
- Develop, communicate and monitor Loss Prevention Action Plans, particularly across stores of concern
- Review and investigate high risk transactions including, discounts, refunds, voids, zero priced sales, employee discount purchases and returns and petty cash for any potential fraud, via analysis of transactional data base
- Deliver awareness and risk prevention training sessions to employees to improve knowledge of Loss Prevention
- Partner with various business leaders to ensure the effective delivery of the Loss Prevention strategy, including reporting on any financial loss regularly following outcomes of stocktakes
- Managing Store Compliance Reporting (SCR) procedures

**Key criteria include**:

- 3 - 5 years in a Retail Loss Prevention
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Extensive knowledge of retail operations and preventative strategies
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proven experience in auditing and improving policies and procedures
- Strong time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to train and develop team
