- 256866Our Federal Government Client is seeking an AWS Cloud Development Security Operations Specialist for a long-term contract role. The initial contract duration is 12 months, with the possibility of extensions. The position is located in ACT and Offsite with the option for remote work and occasional on-site events (a few times per year).

As the AWS Cloud Development Security Operations Specialist, you will work in a small, agile, and inclusive team. Your role will involve assessing technical security, implementing best practice improvements, and providing technical security guidance and leadership to other team members. Practical experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Flux, DevSecOps, and Agile practices is strongly preferred. You will support bespoke AWS environments, Kubernetes clusters, and data pipelines for scientific data processing and web service delivery, ensuring scalability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

- Proactively identify and improve the security of existing systems.
- Develop maintainable and well-documented code and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
- Provide technical advice to software engineers, data scientists, and executive stakeholders through various channels.
- Upskill team members in DevSecOps best practices.
- Participate in program-wide coordination ceremonies and daily stand-ups.
- Engage with the open-source community as applicable.

Essential Criteria:

- In-depth understanding and technical experience maintaining and securing bespoke solutions within Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code solutions (ideally Terraform).
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and GitOps methodology using Flux.
- Experience in delivering and maintaining operational software.
- Proficiency in Linux system administration and relevant scripting languages.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a small team environment.
- Strong communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of DevSecOps, Agile practices, and software architecture patterns.

Desirable Criteria:

- Familiarity with workflow systems such as Apache Airflow.
- Experience with Postgresql, PostGIS, and Python development.
- Experience with distributed computing tools/frameworks like Dask.
- Previous agile experience in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Collaboration experience with the open-source software community.
- Ability to work across different computing platforms, including cloud-based (AWS) and high-performance computing infrastructure.
