Cost Analyst

Contract role
- $55 - $85 per hour plus super
- Perth city location

This role will report to the Project Controls Specialist and provide proactive cost and change management support to the delivery teams across multiple projects.

The Cost Engineer will be expected to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders at a project level and form relationships with those they support.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- The occupational health and safety of yourself and team members, ensuring that systems and processes are undertaken to demonstrate this care.
- Carry out the functional duties necessary for the daily implementation of project cost and change management across regional programs of projects. This includes establishing budget, change management, contingency management, cost risk management, cashflow forecast schedule estimates, costs analysis to provide guidance on the final forecast cost, review and valuation of progress payments and reporting.
- Assisting the Project Controls Specialist and Project Lead/Manager in managing the owners cost, provide explanation of projects costs deviation from forecast/plan and alignment to the cost management processes.
- Be proactive and bold to raise areas of concern to the Project Controls Specialist and Project Lead/Manager to avoid surprises.

**Role Accountabilities**:

- Report and provide cost analysis support on assigned Delivery portfolio and on individual projects.
- Ensure compliance to the project controls guidelines and procedures by the project owners’ team.
- Manage cost assessments and carry out valuations on larger projects, and ensure timely and accurate cost validation, and valuation process.
- Facilitate project review meetings and update cost management tools and systems.
- Assists in maintaining the integrity of integrated project cost reports
- Supports development of regular cost and change management reports, including professional analysis and commentary.
- Assist in the development and update of project cashflow forecasting and estimates at completion.
- Supports compliance with standardised processes, systems and tools
- Maintains the relationship with contracting and project planning stakeholders to provide an informed forecast of the project.
- Collaborates with the planners/schedulers, contracts and estimating groups to ensure that implications of changes are well articulated and understood.
- Assists with analysing and reporting implications of changes to the Annual Plan and forecast.
- Provides technical support to project stakeholders
- Providing an independent assessment of the projects progress and estimate at completion.

**What you’ll bring**
- Engineering or QS qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in project controls delivery on a large project
- Must have experience of working on a large mining project and dealing with multiple projects at one time.
- Experience with PrismG2 is preferred
- Good level Excel spreadsheet skills to verify & crosscheck data accuracy across systems
- Familiarity with running reports for extraction of information from SAP
- Must be a self-starter to drive and work with mínimal supervision
- Ability to work in a tight schedule to meet reporting cut offs

**The main criteria are**:

- Project management experience
- Understands the concept that schedule drives cost - experience working with Planners and Contracts Team, and the why and when.
- Worked in a cost management system previously
- Proficient with Excel
- Understand & is able to facilitate a cost forecasting and project change management review with project leads/managers
- Is able to perform month-end task which includes reconciliation of cost between 2 systems and provide commentaries to cost variances for reports
- Comfortable to challenge forecast of projects
- Adhoc site trips
- Experience working in a portfolio environment will be advantageous but not compulsory
