**About the role**

Release Managers are responsible for defining and conducting the release management process. The role coordinates the countdown to physical release-to-production for all changes ensuring all testing, documentation, cutover planning, approvals and other release requirements are met. Release Managers ensure that the software or product is delivered to the end-users efficiently and effectively, with mínimal disruption to services.

Release Managers work closely with various teams, including software developers, engineers, and quality assurance teams to ensure the software or product meets the required standards before release.

Release Managers exercise a considerable degree of independence, with decision-making substantially dependent on their high-level judgement and consideration of wider agency implications, with work being performed under the general guidance of senior staff.

In performing a leadership role, Release Managers drive innovation, process improvement and change in workplace practice and plan and deliver work outcomes in the context of competing priorities and the agency’s strategic direction.
