**Engineering Manager - Squad Tech Lead, Customer Domain**
**Role Overview**
As Squad Tech Lead within the Customer Domain, you will be the most senior engineer in your squad, responsible for setting the technical direction, driving engineering excellence, and enabling delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. You’ll work closely with Product Owners, Crew Tech Leads, and cross-functional teams to build platforms and services that power customer experiences across CommBank.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Be a hands-on engineer within the squad, guiding the team through design, development, and deployment. Own the delivery by adopting the principle: 'we build, we own, we deploy'.
**Technical Leadership**
- Define and evolve the squad’s technical roadmap in alignment with domain strategy and enterprise architecture.
- Lead design and delivery of cloud-native, modular services with a focus on scalability, resilience, and performance.
- Champion engineering best practices including CI/CD, observability, and secure-by-design principles.
**Squad Enablement**
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and support career development.
**Delivery Excellence**
- Collaborate with Product Owners to shape backlog and delivery plans.
- Drive adoption of shared services and reusable components to accelerate delivery.
- Manage technical risks, dependencies, and ensure alignment with compliance and security standards.
**Cross-Domain Collaboration**
- Partner with other squads and crews to support enterprise-wide initiatives such as financial crime detection, customer intelligence, and onboarding modernization.
- Participate in forums and workshops to align on technical strategy, tooling, and delivery patterns.
**Skills & Experience**
- Proven experience leading engineering teams in large-scale, cloud-native environments.
- Strong background in software engineering, data platforms, and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as.NET Core/GoLang, Angular/React/NextJS, AWS/Azure, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.
- Deep understanding of DevSecOps, secure coding practices, and platform integration.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with customer data platforms, identity systems, or onboarding flows is highly desirable.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), PMP®, CSM®, or equivalent.
