**Who we are**
The Exports and Veterinary Services Division provides export inspection and certification services and develops strategies to gain, improve or maintain market access for a wide range of food, inedible products of animal origin, live animal and reproductive materials. It provides residue monitoring services to Australian primary industries and administers 40 tariff rate quotas for products to the European Union, United States of America, Indonesia and Japan. The division also includes the Codex contact point which coordinates technical input from both industry and government to develop Australia’s position on international food standards.
The Veterinary and Export Meat Branch (VEMB) undertakes regulatory functions by providing inspection and certification for the export of meat, meat products and the import and export of live animals and reproductive material in order to meet importing country requirements and Australian legislative requirements.
The Strategy & Governance and Workforce Planning and Regulatory Culture teams undertake strategic planning, governance, and operational administrative support for the branch. They provide governance functions, including management of the VEMB Governance Framework and strategic reporting at branch and divisional levels. The section is responsible for strategic planning to build a sustainable workforce to deliver future departmental priorities. The section has a focus on supporting and building leadership and change capability and fostering positive and safe workplace culture. The collaborative development of the draft Australian Government and Meat Industry Joint Statement on Workplace Culture in the Meat Sector.
**The Job**
- The main duties of the positions include but are not limited to:_
- Action a range of administrative functions in line with business requirements that may include travel administration, fee for service invoicing, assistance with procurement activity, overtime cost recovery, container seal despatch and other administrative activities as required.
- Respond to enquiries and liaise with staff to provide support in accordance with departmental policies and practices.
- Contribute to the resolution of issues and assist with coordination activities.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative department principles.
- Adopts a principled approach and adheres to the APS values and Code of Conduct.
- Assist in Cost Recovery processes (invoicing & recoverable overtime).
- Promote and comply with departmental WHS and Rehabilitation policies and guidelines and be alert for and report risks to WHS.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the department’s corporate objectives and support change management, including staff and client participation, consultation and cultural change.
- Actively participate in ongoing learning and development to achieve personal team and program objectives.
