**The Role**
The Assistant Director United States Force Posture Program Governance and Stakeholder Engagement is a key member of a small team that provides support to the program management, governance and stakeholder engagement for enhanced US Force Posture Initiatives in Australia.

You will be responsible for ensuring effective governance to support the Force Posture Program Management, and providing targeted stakeholder engagement across the Defence organisation.

The Directorate of Governance and Stakeholder Engagement works closely with the Australian Defence Force (Navy, Army and Air Force), other key Defence Groups, and US forces in our region to enhance US Force Posture cooperation in Australia under the treaty level US/Australia Force Posture Agreement (2014).

You will work with the Director Governance and Stakeholder Engagement in an integrated team (ADF, APS and contracted workforce) that works across the Australian Defence organisation, at the strategic and operational levels, to achieve high quality results that directly influence outcomes of national significance in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

Your exceptional communication, engagement and negotiation skills will be essential for success, and your detailed understanding of Defence policy and governance processes will be critical for this role.

**About our Team**
The Force Posture Initiatives Branch is responsible for managing the United States Force Posture Initiatives (USFPI), Australian Singapore Military Training Initiatives (ASMTI) and emerging initiatives with allies and partners in order to promote security within our region.

The United States Force Posture Initiatives (USFPI) is an extension of Australia’s existing Defence alliance with the United States. The objectives of the USFPI is to improve interoperability between Australian and US armed forces, provide opportunities to engage with partners in the Indo-Pacific, promote regional stability, and better posture both nations to respond to contingencies in the region.

We are looking for someone who can work well under limited or broad direction to perform and achieve complex to very complex planning, administrative and research work in an uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment. We seek someone who delivers quality and timely work, takes independent action and has good teamwork and stakeholder management skills.

Core duties of the Assistant Director USFPI Governance and Stakeholder Engagement include:

- Writing high level reports, briefs, and notes, event coordination support, and secretariat duties for key workshops and conferences;
- Collaborate, Coordinate and prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met, with suitable stakeholder consultation;
- Develop maintain and build productive stakeholder relationships with numerous Defence stakeholders and US counterparts in support of advancing US Force Posture Initiatives;
- Working cooperatively with ADF, APS, and contracted personnel, including participating, as a FPI Branch representative at various working level meetings in relation to US Force Posture Initiatives equities;
- Developing artefacts, include briefs, presentations, diagrams and other product for Departmental personnel up to Secretary and Ministerial level.
