Engineering and Design Manager

**We seek an Engineering and Design Manager to join our Civil and Infrastructure Customer Stream.**:
This role leads all internal and external engineering and design works across various teams to develop effective customer solutions whilst controlling overall risk levels. The role manages design team on day-to-day basis, ensuring outcomes to the relevant Australian Standard during engineering feasibility studies, concept development, detail engineering, construction and handover.

**About the role**:
This will include, but is not limited to:

- Develop and maintain company engineering and design procedures
- Identify and specify client’s standards for technical training and competence
- Undertake technical assessments of design organisations and consultants/subcontractors
- Manage and coordinate all preliminary and detailed engineering and design for construction
- Manage project engineering resourcing for effective timely delivery
- Provide input in selection of projects procurement strategy
- Undertake design review and risk assessment during tender phase and provide technical input to drive optimum value
- Maintain effective document control process and management in collaboration with project teams, including regular reporting to key stakeholder
- Ensure all design developments are delivered at the highest standard and comply with all required regulatory requirements
- Provide leadership, mentoring and direction within all the engineering and design functions team
- Manage both internal and external stakeholders’ involvement during the engineering and design lifecycle
- Seek opportunities that enhances the project value proposition within the McMahon Services engineering and project framework.

**About you**:
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering with formal or informal education in Project Management and ideally a chartered engineer
- Experience in design management, civil and structural engineering, preferably in major construction projects
- Strong leadership skills with an ability to lead change and develop/mentor staff
- Must have well-established connections with prominent consultancy firms
- Must have extensive knowledge of engineering industry, best practices and Australian Standards
- Proven problem-solving ability, detailed orientation and effective inter-personal skills
- Must have strong HSE safety focus and knowledge
- Good time management and adherence to agreed costs, schedules and timeframes
- Be open to innovation and continuous improvement
- Must be able to work under high pressure situation, multi
- task and manage various projects elements simultaneously
- Hold a current White Card & driver’s license
