We have a new opportunity available to join our Opal Bag Solutions business at our Thomastown, VIC site.

Opal Bag Solutions manufactures tailored bag and sack packaging solutions for dry powder and granular product markets, including milk powder, flour, sugar, mineral and building products.

The Quality Systems & Compliance Specialist role provides leadership in the areas of Quality (including Food Safety), Health and Safety, Environmental and Business Systems for Opal Bags Thomastown site. It works closely with all levels of the organisation to develop and implement best practice strategies ensuring stakeholder buy-in, adherence to standards and sustained cultural change which delivers YOY improvement in performance.

This role is critical to the success of Opal Bags through providing strong leadership and working knowledge of the systems required to ensure the business operates as a high integrity industry leader in the supply of Bags.

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

- Working closely with customers, suppliers and industry experts to ensure food safety practices at the site are at acceptable standards and execute an improvement plan to bridge the gap to best practice
- Leading the investigation of quality non-conformances using structured problem-solving tools and implement corrective actions. Communicate internally and to customers on the progress of corrective actions.
- Developing and leading the audit process of the site’s quality program to ensure compliance with accreditation standards
- Effectively driving a positive culture towards safety and quality best practices
- Managing continuous implementation of good manufacturing practices

Specifically, for this role, we expect you will have;
- Experience working in a quality and food safety role in a high-volume complex manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated problem solving, technical and communication skills
- A proven track record of attention to detail, delivering safety, quality and continuous improvement processes
- Preferably a degree or equivalent in Engineering/ Science or similar discipline
- Internal audit qualifications
