**Your day as Policy Officer**

Your typical day-to-day work includes coordinating and undertaking policy development, providing analysis and advice, to support Agency and/or Government policy initiatives and commitments with particular regard to the Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP).

**What is Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP)**

The Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP) is an NSW Government policy designed to encourage Government agencies and suppliers to create opportunities for Aboriginal people, Aboriginal-owned businesses and Aboriginal communities. It will also contribute to the NSW Government’s strategic economic policy of Growing NSW’s First Economy.

The APP applies to the procurement of goods, services and construction by all NSW Government agencies, the objectives of which are to support:

- employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and
- sustainable growth of Aboriginal businesses by driving demand via Government procurement of goods, services and construction.

You will be undertaking research and analysis, reviewing alternatives in relation to policy deliverables, to contribute to the policy process and to inform decision making.

This role liaises extensively with other areas within Treasury, with NSW government agencies and equivalents in other jurisdictions across Australia, and with external stakeholders.
