Quality Assurance Manager

**Who we are**

Pacific Meat Sales is a family-owned business operating for over 25 years. Specializing in high-quality meat sales to a domestic and export market. Our focus is on Pork, Beef and Veal, which is supplied through 5 different brands.

We are looking for a self-motivated, and passionate Quality Assurance Manager who has a strong focus on people management, food safety and quality management systems, quality culture, & continuous improvement. The role will report directly to the Managing Director.

**Major Duties and Responsibilities**
- Develop and manage the QA team, defining control plans, tasks and activities
- Maintaining the Quality Management System to comply with customer requirements and regulatory standards( Previous Knowledge Of Approved Arrangement With the Department Of Agriculture, Primesafe)
- Ensuring the Sanitation Program is maintained by managing the daily pre-operational checks system
- Managing all third-party audits(SQF9.0/GFSI Systems, Aus-Meat, DAWE, Customer Audits etc.) by coordinating audits, following up on all corrective actions and ensuring compliance with Australian standards
- Develop, implement & maintain SQF, Customer Supplier Requirements, supported by the GMP, HACCP, and TACCP Plans to ensure that the business is compliant with regulatory and customer requirements
- Working knowledge of export legislation, MICOR requirements
- Managing and maintaining the support programs for HACCP, such as the Internal Audit Program, Management Review, Training, Pest Control, Calibration, etc
- Full working knowledge of microbiology & result implications
- Supervising QA staff, to ensure all verification activities are conducted as per schedules on time
- Investigating any customer complaints, Customer Trends, and implementing appropriate corrective actions required
- Ensure employees are aware of their responsibilities of a duty of care to themselves and fellow employees, and take all possible steps to prevent accidents and minimize hazards to occupational health.
- Participate in management review meetings, organize and where relevant, chair meetings.
- Be proactive in developing the team’s skills and abilities
- Develop and implement quality assurance policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct regular audits, reviews, and inspections of processes, systems, and products to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and customer service, to ensure product quality.
- Oversee root cause analysis for product defects and implement corrective action plans.
- Conduct employee training on quality standards and procedures.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring all corrective actions are taken.

**The Successful Applicant**

The successful applicant must be capable of facilitating food safety audits by demonstrating the business's compliance with external standards including customer and legislative requirements.

They should also possess the following attributes:

- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Quality Assurance Manager or similar role.
- Highly developed time management, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Highly proficient people management and leadership skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of company specifications and customer requirements;
- Beneficial skills: Aus-Meat, HACCP, SQF/GFSI/BRC System & export experience
- Internal Auditing Accreditations
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills, both verbal and written
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and relevant standards (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, GMP).
- Ability to handle complex problems and propose solutions.
- Proficient in quality control software and data analysis tools.
