**Your Role**
As a Desktop Assessor, you’ll be part of a growing team that plays a vital role in helping our customers recover from property loss—without ever needing to leave your desk. You’ll use builder reports, digital tools, and virtual assessments to evaluate damage, validate scopes of work, and authorise repairs or settlements. This is a dynamic role that combines technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and a strong focus on improving customer experience and service delivery. You’ll make timely decisions that balance customer outcomes with commercial needs, support overflow during peak periods like major weather events, and contribute to ongoing improvements across the team.
Key Deliverables will be:
- Validate the proximate cause, investigate and quantify the repair or settlement of damages while providing support with actions which drive the resolution of customers claims in a commercially appropriate manner that meets accepted standards and guidelines.- Take ownership of the customer experience liaising directly with internal and external stakeholders and utilising effective decision making to deliver outcomes in a timely manner consistent with expected service levels.- Plan and prioritise work to be completed efficiently while working collaboratively to meet the shared goals and objectives of the broader team.- Meet key performance indicators and metrics of the business recognising areas of opportunity where support is needed and creating actions to improve performance.- Maintain compliance with risk and regulatory standards, requirements and frameworks delivering quality outcomes through adherence to internal processes and procedures and monitoring of external partner compliance- Identify opportunities which drive the continuous improvement of customer, compliance and commercial outcomes.- In the event of an extraordinary catastrophe or event you may be requested to support with field based assessments in the impacted areas.
**About You**
To be successful in this role you’ll ideally have the following skills:
- Experience in complex claims management or a related field- Strong communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills- Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively- A willingness to learn technical aspects of assessing (building knowledge is a plus)- Background in insurance, trades, or construction is highly regarded but not essential
