The Provider Assurance and Support Section forms part of the Program Delivery Division. The Provider Assurance team is responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing management of assurance activities for DVA’s healthcare providers. The program of work incorporates risk and data analysis to prepare and implement forward work plan, developing and refining the supporting assurance framework, and analysing data assets for the purpose of assurance activities.
The Assistant Director Assurance is responsible for leading a team of assurance officers to develop and deliver the forward work plan for DVA’s healthcare providers. The role provides expertise to support and develop the assurance team. This position will lead development of the Section’s forward work plan for assurance activities and is responsible for provision of quality strategic advice to the Director and Executive team regarding assurance activities, review findings and the assurance strategy.

The Assistant Director Assurance will play a critical role in ensuring that assurance activities align with the organisation’s strategic goals, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
**Duties**
- Develop and oversee the delivery of the forward work plan for assurance activities, including reporting, policies, procedures, and other artefacts to support the delivery.
- Lead, manage, and develop a geographically dispersed team of assurance officers, including:
- Allocation of tasks and workload management.
- Quality assurance over analysis, interpretation of information, risk assessments, decision-making processes, reports, and recommendations.
- Identification of gaps and development of strategies to enhance individual and team capabilities.
- Provide expert advice on assurance activities and strategies to the Director and Executive team.
- Assess and summarise review results against DVA regulatory framework, making appropriate recommendations and identify systemic improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and sensitivities, and align assurance activities accordingly.
- Represent the business unit by attending and presenting at working groups and meetings.
- Draft Executive and Ministerial briefs and other correspondence as required.
- Produce, maintain, and manage accurate records in accordance with records management policies.
- Perform other duties as directed.
**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
**Notes**
Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.
A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
