Specialist Design Manager

Sutherland Shire Council is looking for two experienced and inspired Specialist Design Managers to join the Infrastructure Planning & Design team. With multiple Buildings and Leisure Centres across our portfolio, these roles will play a key part in delivering our Capital Works program while working in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.

The Asset Strategy and Delivery Division undertakes long-term asset management across the portfolio and delivers a pipeline of infrastructure through staged planning, design, and construction over a 4-year program. Sitting within the Infrastructure Planning & Design unit, these positions will be responsible for initiatives such as the major renewal and expansion of Council’s aquatic and leisure facilities as well as the expansion of iconic public facilities.

- Specialist Design Manager Aquatics
- Specialist Design Manager Buildings

Things We’ll **Trust** You With:

- Undertaking the delivery of complex projects, from feasibility studies, concepts and masterplans to detailed design documentation requiring advanced architectural and recreational design for principally Council infrastructure projects.
- Being a champion for design excellence, bringing innovation and expertise to significant community projects.
- Bringing your can-do attitude and commitment to working within a multi-disciplinary planning and design team.
- Providing technical guidance & advice to team members, senior management, & the organisation in respect to design and strategic considerations in projects.
- Working autonomously, driving the planning and design project program and setting projects up for success.
- Managing cost reviews and undertake value management as required.

Things You’ll **Do**:

- Lead the delivery of Capital Works projects during the planning and design phases.
- Achieve the project outcomes for clients and stakeholders by meeting time, cost and quality expectations, and compliance with the project brief.
- Assess planning pathways and obtain necessary approvals, including any heritage and cultural considerations.
- Create project briefs in close coordination with clients and stakeholders.
- Undertake feasibility assessments and options studies, including advice on delivery programs and staging of works.
- Organise and review documentation to ensure coordinated and complete packages such as detailed design and tender.
- Collaborate and coordinate with stakeholders, clients and consultants across a range of disciplines to develop strategies and resolve problems.
- Engage and manage internal and external planning and design consultants.
- Work closely with the asset management and construction teams to deliver valued community assets.

The **Fine** Print:

- **Package**:$109,977 - $125,047 gross p.a. plus 11% superannuation. Salary will depend on your level of experience.
- **Hours of work**:Permanent full-time position (35 hours) with an option of a 19-day month
