
Advanced Public Health Officer

The role The Advanced Public Health Officer you will use advanced expertise in public health, to spearhead the strategic planning and operational management of a new, dynamic multidisciplinary compliance team addressing illicit tobacco and vape supply during an exciting period of State and Federal reform.
Using a risk-based prioritisation, you will be responsible for negotiating the coordination and deployment of staff across the state in collaboration with Public Health Units and other State and National co-regulators.
This role demands an individual with a robust command of evidence-based public health practices, as well as compliance planning and execution. You will be adept at orchestrating timely and authoritative advice for senior management, State and National regulatory partners, and key stakeholders. You will lead stakeholder forums and networks to enhance communication channels, ensuring the successful implementation of state-compliance operations. Furthermore, you will have a track record in monitoring and refining public health initiatives, developing standardised practices and proactively driving improvements.
Your skill set should encompass high-level experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management, including the ability to proactively exert influence on key internal and external stakeholders. You will be a confident manager able to implement quality improvement endeavours, and oversee performance management, including mentorship and professional development programs for staff.
The successful personTo excel in this role, you must highlight proficiency and competencies in modern public health practices, particularly in risk-oriented decision-making, regulatory frameworks, and the oversight of public health legislation and licensing. Additionally, you should exhibit the capability to autonomously steer the operational oversight of a diverse public health team spanning various health service entities. You will have outstanding organisational skills.
Moreover, you should demonstrate the capacity to independently drive health service activity by employing effective communication, consultation, and negotiation skills, and by actively influencing policy and program enhancements while fostering innovation and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Furthermore, your ability to cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders is crucial for advancing the health and welfare of the people of Queensland.
