The role
As the Advanced Public Health Officer (Viral Hepatitis) you will be responsible for leading statewide policy and program work relating to viral hepatitis (Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C) including overseeing some aspects of the Queensland Needle and Syringe Program. You will provide advice to senior management, partners, and other stakeholders to influence the strategic planning and delivery of complex and innovative preventive health programs and service delivery models. You will coordinate planning, strategy development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of these programs. The role contributes to the Department's broader work on blood-borne viruses including HIV. The Advanced Public Health Officer (Viral Hepatitis) reports to the Director, BBV/STI Unit.
A tertiary degree qualification in public health is an essential requirement of this role.

QPHaSS leads statewide planning and coordination of programs and services to prevent, diagnose and control diseases, hazards and harmful practices and enhance protective health factors to promote the overall health and wellbeing of Queenslanders.
The Communicable Diseases Branch is responsible for the surveillance, prevention, and control of communicable diseases in Queensland. This involves overseeing legislation, policy, and operational management of communicable diseases.
