**The Role**

Under the implementation of the Future Maritime Sustainment Model in New South Wales we have five positions available at the APS 6 level within the newly established Regional Maintenance Centre
- East (RMC?E) team. The RMC-E, along with the Regional Maintenance Provider - East (RMP-E) contractor, will be part of an integrated Commonwealth and Industry workforce that will plan, manage and deliver maintenance on Navy’s surface fleet based at Garden Island, Sydney.
The Quality and Risk Manager will work directly to the EL1 Deputy Director (Business Manager) and be required to deliver outcomes under broad direction to perform and achieve complex quality assurance work within an integrated workforce. They will understand regulations, licenses and standards of practice, engage with stakeholders and perform compliance testing and monitoring and business process monitoring of the adherence to regulatory, license and standard requirements.
They will recommend, communicate and provide reporting of
compliance and initiate remedial actions. They will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
**About our Team**
In response to the Australian Government developing a nationwide naval shipbuilding enterprise the Future Maritime Sustainment Model is being implemented to realise Plan Galileo; National Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group’s national, long term approach to sustainment of the naval fleet. The Regional Maintenance Centre - East is located in Sydney NSW and will provide capability support to the Royal Australian Navy from the Garden Island Defence Precinct (GIDP), a growing hub of activity that is going to be pivotal to Australia’s sovereign Naval capability well into the future.
The focus of this organisation will be on enhanced collaboration, co-ordination, workforce development and expansion to build the capability and capacity needed to meet increasing ship maintenance demands. In addition to being involved in building and sustaining Australia’s naval fleet, you will also have access to attractive working conditions as an Australian Public Servant in Defence. You can access a variety of flexible working arrangements, including part-time work, occasionally working from home and working hours that aren’t always nine to five.
