**The Role**
Within the Estate Management and Planning function an APS 6 Facilities Program Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex estate planning and development work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

An APS 6 Facilities Program Manager will:

- Work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
- Provide detailed estate planning and development professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
- Have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues.
- Be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
- Be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

An APS 6 Facilities Program Manager may be a team coach or lead a team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows. They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit. They will exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes

**About our Team**
Estate Management and Planning ensures the Defence estate is effectively planned, managed and maintained in a way that enables Defence capabilities and long-term sustainablity of the the estate.

The teams have a key role in stakeholder engagement provision of guidance estate works and project delivery

This role has a significant requirement for attention to detail and organisational skills for the purpose of interpreting plans, project support (multiple projects), planning and coordination activities across projects and programs.

The team informs and supports construction and infrastructure projects on our Bases throughout the project lifecycle. We work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures.

The APS 6 level requires strong leadership and team building skills, the ability to motivate and inspire a team, and the ability to build effective relationships within a large and complex network of internal and external stakeholders. We value our team using initiative to explore innovative approaches to support continuous improvement across our deliverables.

- Have the ability to interpret plans and drawings that are commonly used in facilities management.
- Have a depth of stakeholder management and engagement in a complex environment.
- Have Leadership skills.
- Have Commercial or public sector facilities management experience, and an understanding of the delivery of projects.
