**About the Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science**
The Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science is funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC). The goals of the Centre are to undertake research into the way light energy is absorbed, transported and transformed in advanced molecular materials. The Centre’s research will produce outcomes and benefits that include, new Australian technologies in solar energy conversion; energy-efficient lighting and displays; security labelling and optical sensor platforms for defence.

The University of Melbourne’s School of Chemistry hosts the Centre of Excellence, which also includes nodes at The University of Sydney, RMIT University, The University of NSW (UNSW) and Monash University.

The Centre is a collaboration between chemists, physicists, mathematicians and engineers. Our goal is to discover next generation materials that can shape a sustainable energy future. This includes new solar cells but also energy efficient devices such as low energy lighting and light driven sensors.

**About the Role**
The Centre Coordinator will provide key operational, strategic and administrative support to the Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science and provide high-level executive support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Centre Director.

The role supports decision making across the centre, liaising with stakeholders including Centre staff, researchers, HDR students, process experts and managers to provide advice to the COO on policy and procedures as appropriate.

The incumbent will assist the COO and Centre Director with diary management and committee support, including the preparation of agenda and minutes, coordinating meeting logistics and monitoring record keeping compliance. The role will further oversee event management for a broad range of seminars and workshops run by the Centre, overseeing program design, organising external and internal speakers, and working with the Outreach and Communications teams to run outreach and research events as required.

Responsibilities include:

- Developing best practice processes across the Centre for reporting, HR and Finance matters in collaboration with team members and university business services
- Developing skills in a range of computational tasks; these may involve computer programming tasks and computational systems, including developing skills in the use of Drupal
- Liaising and working with our external consultants and other members to ensure that the Centre’s reporting system and processes for data collection are optimised
- Managing and maintaining a number of Centre personnel and professional development initiatives, including but not limited to facilitating centre wide professional development, training and mentorship

**About You**
The successful incumbent will demonstrate an understanding of the operational aspects of research centres and familiarity working with faculty and university business service providers to bring about effective outcomes. Previous experience working in an ARC Centre of Excellence will be highly regarded.

The role requires exceptional organisational and project management skills, including a demonstrated capacity to develop clear project plans and timeline, stakeholder management and monitoring milestones.

You will also have:

- A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
- Proven excellent written communication skills, including preparation of reports and public facing communications as required
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to relate effectively with a range of stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
