**Where you'll be working**
Reporting to the Chief Health Officer, Health Protection NSW is responsible for surveillance and public health response in NSW including monitoring the epidemiology of notifiable infectious disease and taking appropriate action to prevent, control and minimize the impact of these diseases. It also provides public health advice and response to environmental issues affecting human health.
The One Health Branch focuses on the strategic response to human health impacts of diseases transmitted from the environment, including foodborne, animal-borne, vector-borne diseases and related incidents. The Branch also supports the public health network to prepare for, respond to and recover from public health incidents and emergencies. The Branch works in close collaboration across Health Protection NSW branches.
**About the Role**
The Project Officer is located in Health Protection NSW (HPNSW), within One Health Branch. The role is responsible for providing technical and project support expertise in relation to communicable disease control, with a strong focus on developing and maintaining surveillance tools, and communicating with inter
- and intra-Government partners and the public health network.
The position works closely across branches to develop and implement processes and procedures for state-wide surveillance and reporting and for outbreak response. This position will also provide cross-branch advice and may be placed within any Health Protection unit to meet business needs.

**Selection Criteria**
- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a public health field, preferably foodborne disease investigations.
- Proven experience in disease surveillance and management of disease outbreaks.
- Demonstrated experience with managing databases independently and undertaking data quality activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with strong evidence of ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, co-ordinate stakeholders and prepare high-quality written reports.
- Sound analytical skills including the ability to analyse and interpret information, prepare and present analysis and reports, solve problems creatively and a drive to achieve business objectives and solutions.
- Good understanding of epidemiology and biostatistical methods.
- High-level organisation and time management skills, including demonstrated initiative and ability to meet deadlines with multiple co-occurring priorities.
