**Selection Criteria**:

- SC1: A demonstrated commitment to working respectfully with young people, families and communities using an evidence-based framework to address issues of wellbeing and engagement.

SC2: Demonstrated skills in working with Prep to Year 12 students presenting with a profound intellectual disability and a range of complexities, including challenging behaviours, school refusal/disengagement, trauma, anxiety and depression.

SC3: Proven ability to coach evidence-based positive behaviour support strategies to staff within a classroom setting, including ability to explicitly model targeted strategies with students, and then gradually release responsibility to classroom staff using a 'I do, we do, you do¿ methodology

SC4: Demonstrated high-level skills in working as part of a multidisciplinary team with a commitment to collaborative practice, including the capacity to work independently when required.

SC5: Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high-level record-keeping skills with a capacity to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

**Role**:

- The successful applicant will:

- supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
- Perform the role as listed in the Victorian Government Schools Agreement for Education Support at Level 1 Range 3.

**Responsibilities**:

- Re-engage students into the classrooms through targeted interventions in a 1:1 and 2:1 adult to student ratio program.
- Build students¿ ability to understand, manage and regulate their emotions, reactions and feelings as well as building staff capacity to co-regulate with the students.
- Consolidate student learning in line with their modified timetable and Individual Education Plans.
- Coaching and/or modelling using SWPBS strategies and the gradual release instructional model.
- Develop staff¿s ability to understand and manage challenging behaviour, in line with Department of Education policies, whilst considering the impact of their actions on themselves and others, especially in relation to safety and dignity.
- Complete documentation such as data collection, session notes, communication notes, and contribution towards the development of Behaviour Alerts and Behaviour Support Plans.

**Who May Apply**:

- Individuals with aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position. Qualifications in Positive Behaviour Management preferably. Experience in Positive Behaviour Management required.

- Located in Melbourne's Western suburbs, Sunshine Special Developmental School (SDS) offers an inclusive, innovative and tailored learning environment for students aged from 5-18 years with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities. Our school is divided into two sub-schools: Primary and Secondary. The school is home to students from diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
