Support the delivery of a supply chain logistics strategy as part of large transformation agenda for David Jones.
The role
As David Jones embarks on a business wide and customer inspired transformation agenda, we are investing in key areas to unlock our capability to inspire like no other. The Procurement & Transport will be responsible for managing manage the procurement and operational execution of inbound and outbound distribution services.
Reporting to the GM Supply Chain, you will deliver cost effective product availability with a consistently high level of service and operational excellence to ensure our omni channel teams can deliver outstanding experiences for our customers. With a focus on continuous improvement initiatives in a rapidly evolving retail market, this role will be crucial in ensuring that we deliver for the now while having one eye on emerging trends across transport and supply chain.
With a hybrid mix of time at home, in our Melbourne based office and our distribution centres, this role will suit an experienced transport/logistics professional with proven leadership experience who wants to shape how things evolve for an iconic Australian luxury retailer.
What does the role involve?
- Procure and oversee all inbound and outbound third-party transport activity
- Influence the Supply Chain strategy to ensure cost effective B2B and B2C transport services
- Create a strategy that optimises Logistics in line with future supply chain capabilities
- Ensure service level commitments are satisfied, and service, sustainability and financial targets achieved
- Drive improved sustainability, and people diversity outcomes
Who are we looking for?
- Degree qualifications in Supply Chain, Commerce or Engineering
- Minimum 8 years relevant working experience at a management level within supply chain management and/or procurement
- Experience in developing continuous operational excellence improvements
- Proven supplier negotiations and relationship management capability
- Proven financial and commercial acumen
- Ability to inspire, lead and influence through direct and indirect relationships
- Adaptability with an appreciation for fast paced, consumer orientated environments
