About Us
A rare opportunity exists to join the Strategic Insights and Information team at the Department of Justice and Community Safety as a Data Analyst on a full time, ongoing basis. Our team sits in the Fines and Enforcement Services (FES) business unit within the Police, Fines and Crime Prevention group at DJCS and has the primary responsibility of delivering end-to-end analytics and reporting across FES to the Executive team, other key decision makers and into the public domain.
If you are a data wrangler with strong problem-solving skills, a curious mind that looks for the meaning behind the numbers, and the ability to articulate and communicate your findings, then this role may be for you
About the Role
As a Data Analyst, you will develop and deliver reports, self-service dashboards and analysis that facilitate data-driven business decision making within FES. You will work in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team who are passionate about delivering quality work and driving continuous improvement.
**Key accountabilities include**:
- Develop and deliver reports, self-service dashboards and analysis using data from internal and relevant external sources and maintain the underlying reporting framework.
- Interrogate, examine and transform data to produce appropriate analytical solutions that support business decision making.
- Utilise data visualisation and storytelling skills to provide the business with meaningful and relevant insights about what is happening and why.
- Assist with analytics projects and data analysis tasks. This includes actioning requests from stakeholders, and collecting, organising, producing, interpreting, analysing and presenting data.
- Foster strong working relationships with stakeholders and provide technical analytic expertise and guidance on the use of data and self-serve reporting.
About You
We are seeking an experienced data analyst with strong programming and data visualisation skills, who is proficient at translating analysis to insights for different audiences. You will need to demonstrate your end-to-end skillset, automation expertise and ability to deliver fit-for-purpose reporting solutions.
To be successful in this position, you will need to be an all-rounder who can engage in a broad scope of work ranging from developing reports and dashboards to conducting bespoke analytics requests. This individual will have strong conceptual and analytical skills, as well as a solid technical background including advanced MS SQL and Power BI skills; Python and R knowledge will be highly regarded.
