**BRIEFLY ABOUT US**:
Intensive support was founded in 2003 to help young people with, disadvantage, disability or mental health disorder in justice and correctional settings who were struggling. Intensive support has been providing services to the NDIS since 2016. We provide a range services including the ‘mentor’ program. We provide support services to people who have mental health problems. Our participants are diverse in age, gender and need.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
A Support Worker is to be a positive role model. Someone to, socialise with, ask questions. Be someone to believe in, or someone to be there to encourage wellbeing.

Intensive Support has casual opportunities for Youth Workers across Sydney with specific focus being on assisting young people with difficult behaviours.

Key responsibilities of the role include supervising and supporting young people with history of abuse and/or neglect and challenging behaviours. The role includes basic tasks, such as daily living tasks i.e., shopping, cooking, laundry.

Support Workers are responsible for transporting young people to appointments and outings i.e. shopping, going to movies, outdoor fitness etc.

The position is flexible to workers availabilities and can sometimes be around 24 hour rostering, including sleepover shifts.

**WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE**:

- Insight and/or lived experience with mental health issues or social disadvantage. You might even have work experience in the community care sector
- An understanding of youth and disadvantage
- You’ll be an engaging, compassionate, empathetic person
- Persistence - showing up to support your connection/s, a passion for helping people
- Brilliant communication and proven computer skills
- You’ll be able to work well on your own, and be part of the crew also
- Driver’s license and access to a reliable/registered and insured vehicle
- Current Working with Children Check
- Cleared Criminal Record Check obtained within 12 months
- Qualification relevant to the role will be well regarded, but not essential.

**Salary**: From $36.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
Intensive Support roles are covered by directives that require mandatory COVID vaccinations. Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccination or valid medical exemption prior to commencement.
