**About the Role**

The overall purpose of the Technical Officer (Science) is to is to provide a high level of specialised technical support in the areas of Biology, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Food Technology related disciplines within the College of Sport, Health and Engineering (CoSHE), Victoria University Research (VUR) and Victoria University TAFE.

**This is a full-time, continuing position at a HEP 5 classification with salary range of $73,852 - $84,831 per annum plus 17% superannuation, working 36.75 hours per week.**

**Duties**

An example of duties you may perform will include:

- Provide specialised training and technical support services to staff and postgraduate and undergraduate students on biological, chemical, microbiological and food technological techniques and laboratory equipment at the Footscray Park, Werribee West and other campuses as required.
- Partake in regular testing, routine maintenance and general trouble-shooting of specialised equipment in the Biological, Chemical, Microbiological, and Food Technological areas in the Colleges’ laboratories to ensure equipment is in good operating order at all times.
- Provide induction and training to staff and students in the use of both general and specialised equipment and ensuring all end users are competently trained.

**About the Person**
You will be working in the Technical Services department at Victoria University. The department is a shared service providing support to the University Colleges and Victoria University TAFE. This role provides services into both sectors as required. Your experience and knowledge of the Biology, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Food Technology disciplines, along with your commitment to providing a positive student experience will assist you in delivering on Victoria University’s vision to empower a diverse community of students, to grow their capabilities and transform their lives.
