**Job Description**:
As an Engineering Manager in the Payments team you'll be responsible for managing parts of development of a platform that enables our customers & merchants to use Afterpay as a method of payment. This team is all about creating new payments experiences through new methods and improvements to the payments platform. We’re working on expanding our payment ecosystem globally through initiatives such as network tokenization, automated clearing house (ACH), VISA direct integration and wherever else the Afterpay journey takes us Imagine yourself enabling, improving and optimizing the flow of millions of credit card, debit card and bank accounts by creating a mission-critical payments platform.

This role requires expertise in building out mission-critical systems at scale that can evolve quickly with our rapidly growing business. Additionally, we are looking for leaders with a proven record of building world-class engineering teams that focus on scalability, flexibility, and most importantly resilience and anti-fragility.

You will:

- Ensure the team is consistently delivering working software to our expected standards
- Participate in the technical development and maintenance of Afterpay standards for software development, testing, release management and reviews
- Technical ownership of the work that your team is delivering within each iteration or standalone deliverable
- Undergo performance reviews and daily people management across the team
- Proactively manage issues early to avoid bigger problems later
- Proactively supporting your team members to achieve their performance and development goals
- Ensure the team is collaborating closely with key stakeholders, such as Product Managers.

**Qualifications**:

- Experienced leading teams in fast paced and complex environments
- Passionate about coaching and people development
- Experience in payments technology is desired but not essential
- An outcome focused and collaborative approach
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Passionate about adding to and growing an organisation’s engineering culture
- Enjoy driving the technical and product vision within the domain you operate in
