**Your new company**

This federal government branch manages a new and high profile core health program that plays a key role in reducing the incidence of disease in Australia by detecting illness. The program works with a range of stakeholders and service providers, including the states and territories, telehealth providers and health clinics. The team’s work encompasses communications, operations, stakeholder engagement, policy, financial support and project management. The team is currently seeking an experienced policy officer to join this fast-paced team for an initial 6 month contract.

**Your new role**

Your new role will see you playing a fundamental part in working on complex policy matters and associated implementation. Here, you will be able to identify strategic linkages based on fast and thorough research of existing material whilst engaging with a range of stakeholders while navigating competing agendas. As there will be a large writing component to this role, clear written and oral communication with a demonstrated ability to refine this for different audiences is a must. The team is a warm and engaging group so willingness to contribute to the positive team culture will see you stand out.

**What you'll need to succeed**

To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing individual with demonstrated professional experience working as a policy officer within the Australian Public Service. As well as this, you will have:

- Demonstrated skills in research and analysis.
- Established experience with developing strategic written and oral communication.
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify and synthesise key pieces of information from a range of diverse sources.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Flexibility, initiative and organisational skills to work effectively in a small team to tight deadlines.
