**The Role**
This Contract Manager role within Submarines Division is an excellent opportunity to be accountable for, and under limited direction; perform complex strategic sourcing and contract management tasks. Your knowledge and understanding of legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements will be important for success in this role.
In your role you will work independently with the opportunity for autonomy and accountability in the delivery of outcomes. You will manage and provide clear direction, assistance and services relating to procurement policy issues and commercial, legal, financial investigation, technical and other requirements as applicable in order to support contract management outcomes.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. **About our Team**
The commercial team is part of the Submarines Division within Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG). Submarines Division exists to deliver an enduring, potent and agile submarine capability vital to Australia’s national security. The Submarine capability we deliver includes the submarines themselves, their support systems and the associated sovereign industrial base.
Our contribution to the delivery of submarine capability spans:
- Submarine sustainment - including Collins sustainment.
- Life-of-type extension, and nuclear-powered submarine sustainment.
- Selected capability enhancements and submarine combat systems.
- Submarine rescue and intervention.
- Be accountable for leading and undertaking procurement planning and contract management activities while complying with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures.
- Engage and negotiate with clients and stakeholders, responding to complex enquiries and contract management issues.
- Be highly organised, proactive and enjoy working in a fast paced environment with a high level of responsibility.
- Manage a team by providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance standards and delegating responsibilities.
- Draft and review complex contracting correspondence including commercially sensitive reports, submissions and contract change proposals.
