Wayahead Mental Health Association NSW are now looking for their next Chief Executive Officer who will bring commercial acumen, strong strategic partnerships, and industry knowledge, and use these skills to ensure the organisation continues to impact and deliver on its purpose. A key aspect of that will be to lead the diversifying of funding (currently through Ministry of Health) and providing services in remote and regional areas in NSW.
You will be innovative and fearless in your approach and passionate about the cause either through lived and/or professional experience. You will be a leader that inspires, and creates a culture of empathy, mutual respect, and continual improvement.
You must be a strategic networker who can influence and negotiate at the highest level with local, state, and federal government officials, other CEOs, and the wider philanthropic community to generate awareness, income and exposure.
As the CEO, responsibilities also include:
- Inspiration leadership, culture, and HR/IR compliance towards the achievement of WayAhead’s Vision, Purpose, Values and Goals
- Implementation of the strategic goals and objectives of WayAhead-Mental Health Association NSW Ltd. either directly or through delegated authority
- Ensuring financial growth and sustainability
- Governance -, strategic planning and performance, ensuring board secretariat support, statutory and regulatory reporting (ASIC, ACNC, ATO), AGM, annual report
- Program and service quality management, evaluation, and systems
- Financial management, risk and compliance
- Building the profile and reputation of the service - branding, marketing and media strategies
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement board strategies for a medium to large organisation

Skill and experience
To be successful in this CEO position, your skills and experiences will include:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Experience leading a community managed organisation (CMO), government, corporate or philanthropy
- Experience supporting or participating in for-purpose Boards, especially those relating to mental health and other related areas/issues (e.g., drug and alcohol, youth wellbeing, homelessness, etc.).
- Track record of managing government contracts and capacity to manage all reporting and legal requirements of CMOs
- A strategic and commercial mindset that can recognise opportunities and with experience developing and delivering a growth strategy and plan
- The ability to develop strong relationships across government, corporate and community
- An understanding of the NFP sector including mental health and community managed organisations
- A track record in leadership on delivering funding initiatives through private and government funders
- Experience and or involvement with digital transformation, including eLearning
- Demonstrated experience in developing quality policy, preferably on mental health and/or related issues.
