**Why Your Role Matters**

The Academic Learning Facilitator is a key position in the Student Success theme, within the Education Pillar of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education & Student Experience and is responsible for teaching into UNSW enabling education programs (including the University Preparation Programs) and for the provision of academic learning facilitation to students across UNSW.

This varied role does not sit in a particular faculty and rather works and collaborates with all of them depending on what is required and faculties’ deliverables.

The role is replacing an internal employee on a secondment opportunity, reports into the Convenor, Enabling Programs & Learning Facilitation and has no direct report.

**Main responsibilities Summary**
- Teach into enabling education programs and courses offered by the portfolio including the University Preparation Program and where required perform the role of course convenor. This may include supervision of casual academic staff
- Provide front-line academic learning support using a variety of educational technologies and methodologies including one-on-one consultations, group sessions/workshops, and other university events where required (e.g. UNSW Orientation and Open Days)
- Positively contribute to a service-oriented environment of innovation, continuous improvement and teaching excellence in the provision of enabling education programs and courses and academic learning facilitation
- Establish and maintain strong networks and working relationships with key PVCESE themes including Student Life, Employability, Psychology and Wellness and Accommodation as well as UNSW Faculties, Schools, and Divisions drawing on staff expertise to provide continuity of student journey support to students of all abilities
- Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and quality assurance of enabling education programs, activities and resources utilising educational technologies to increase accessibility
- Work in partnership with the Faculties to design, develop, implement, and evaluate; evidence based, systemic and responsive academic learning support
- Manage projects and initiatives related to academic development with an ongoing evaluation of the integration of educational technology into development programs and initiatives
- Liaise with faculty representatives and teaching staff to analyse academic learning needs aligned with the university’s strategic direction and play a supporting role in driving innovative academic learning facilitation from the portfolio and as directed by the Convenor, Enabling Programs & Learning Facilitation and the Head of Student Success
- Develop, implement, and review the policies, procedures, guidelines and training materials/ resources related to enabling education and academic learning facilitation
- Work closely with the Education pillar themes and teams in promoting the integration of digital delivery options in educational resources and offerings

**Who You Are**

We are looking for someone who understands and is aligned with UNSW’s vision and values, who has a strong service orientation and is student-focussed. You’ll also need to come equipped with:

- A PhD ideally; as a minimum a Master's degree (no specific field)
- Previous experience teaching in higher education
- Demonstrated experience with and an understanding of issues facing tertiary education students of a diverse range of equity backgrounds and the key issues currently impacting accessibility to education and academic learning support and services
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, course design, formative and summative assessment and learning and teaching approaches that promote student academic learning and development
- Demonstrated ability to utilise and implement educational technologies including web-based learning management systems to facilitate learning and the ability to identify avenues for innovation and improvement in learning resources
- Demonstrated ability working in an online learning and teaching environment
