**School of Biomedical Sciences**
The School of Biomedical Sciences is a vibrant ecosystem of educators, researchers, and professionals, with departments of Pathology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Anatomy and Molecular Medicine. We are one of the largest teaching schools at UNSW, situated in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. We play a key role in arming future doctors, health practitioners, biomedical scientists, and a broader community of health professionals, each of whom will bring a specialised and diverse skill set to the frontiers of medical science. We produce graduates who are better able to practice and are better informed about biomedical research for their future careers.

Those who are appointed to this prestigious specialisation will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities.
The School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Level B academic) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) and will report to the Head of Pathology and has no direct reports.
**Responsibilities**:
**As Level B**:
- Contribute to undergraduate teaching within the discipline of Pathology and collaboratively with other disciplines in the School of Biomedical Sciences.
- Teaching activities include, but not limited to, the preparation, execution and evaluation of lectures, tutorials, and practical classes, and facilitation of small group learning sessions.
- Demonstrate and continuously develop a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
- Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements, and support students in undergraduate courses in line with UNSW policy.
- Design and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments.
- Initiate the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning with the support of more senior academics.
- Support learning progression with students as individuals (through such activities as one-to-one consultation) and as a cohort (through general course related advice) to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes for students.
- Manage course administration as Course Authority, including academic quality assurance.
- Maintain professional development in pedagogy, disciplinary knowledge, and minimum professional accreditation requirements (where relevant)
- Make a positive contribution to School meetings and seminars and be a member of School/Faculty committees as required.
**As Level C (in addition to the above)**:
- Lead the design/development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning and participate in the exchange of these approaches with colleagues.
- Maintain and develop links within the discipline industry and profession (e.g., contributes to professional development activities).
- Make a positive contribution by leading School meetings and seminars and be a member of
- School/Faculty committees as required.
- Actively engage and contribute to UNSW’s Education Focussed community driving educational excellence across the university.
- Work collaboratively with peers across the UNSW in all aspects of academic endeavour, develop learning and teaching strategies and resources and contribute to an exchange of teaching ideas, and mentoring of staff.
- Ensure hazards and risks are identified and controlled for tasks, projects and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility**.**
**You will have**:
**As Level B**:
- A PhD in Biomedical Science, Pathology, Histology, or a related discipline, and/or a medical degree with relevant professional expertise.
- Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development.
