**About the role**
Reporting directly to the CEO as a part of the City of Melbourne’s executive leadership team (ELT), this role leads a broad and diverse portfolio that elevates and strengthens the wellbeing, health and safety of our residents, visitors, families, business and community. Working closely with Councillors and leading a passionate and high performing team of Directors, the General Manager is responsible for leading, driving and implementing best practice in community strengthening, advocacy, wellbeing, health, safety and compliance, and ensuring Council is delivering on both the Council Plan and Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

You are a constructive and values-driven leader respected for your ability to build and lead high performing teams through partnership, empowerment and achievement. With an obvious passion for community, you have delivered and inspired significant outcomes within local government or similar environments. You have highly developed analytical and lateral thinking skills, which you use to take initiative, lead complex change, and execute innovations. With proven capacity to influence and cultivate productive working relationships with high profile stakeholders, you offer strategic direction and deliver operational and business outcomes while leading large and diverse teams.
