We are the City of Melbourne, a place to **be bold and inspirational.** **About the role** **You will** - Provide expertise in economics and urban analytics to shape City Analytics and support data-driven decisions at the City of Melbourne. - Develop a City Analytics framework to guide future projects and integrate them into the analytics ecosystem. - Lead the development of a robust, repeatable approach to City Analytics for land use and infrastructure planning. - Systemise and build on the learnings from the previously delivered prototype. - Lead the shaping of program activities associated with improving, developing and integrating the city analytics capability. - Support the delivery of components of strategic plans, ensuring it relates to and delivers on relevant goals and objectives and delivering a positive ROI and measurable impact - Proactively identify and pilot new technology, tools and techniques to support continuous improvement in the areas of Research and Insights including platforms. **What you will bring to the role (selection criteria)** - Tertiary qualification or experience in social science, economics, mathematics, statistics, or technology. - Strong analytical, lateral thinking, and initiative-taking skills to drive change and innovation. - Extensive experience in economics and statistical analysis; urban and demographic analytics background a plus. - Systems thinking approach, understanding how City Analytics integrates within CoM and externally. - Experience in data analysis, presentation, and interpretation, including tools like Python/R, SharePoint, Shiny, and Power BI (DAX). - Data analytics consultancy expertise to identify pain points and recommend tailored solutions. - Ability to see the big picture and generate insights to drive strategic decisions and outcomes. - Strong communication skills, including data storytelling and presenting to diverse stakeholders. - Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and persuasion skills with discretion and judgement. - Proven experience managing issues in complex, political environments. **How to apply** This is a fantastic and dynamic opportunity to build on the career you have developed to date and become an integral part of the vibrant energy that defines Melbourne city.
