**Your new company**
Located 1 hour south of Melbourne, this Council is located in a well-established, fast-growing area. This Council is the fourth-largest provincial centre in Victoria. **Your new role**
As the Strategic Planner, you will be responsible for developing and reviewing strategic plans, guidelines and policies for the Council to ensure that they are comprehensive, contemporary, relevant and reflective of the Council and the community’s goals and objectives in the areas of municipal planning.
You will report to the team leader of strategic planning and coordinate and advocate on strategic transport and land use planning issues on behalf of the Council, to the Commonwealth and state governments, and other agencies and organisations.
**What you'll need to succeed**
**Key selection criteria**:
- Degree in Town Planning or relevant field with demonstrated knowledge of planning and related legislation, the Victorian Planning system, relevant government policies and strategies, the Planning Scheme and planning theory and techniques.
- Significant experience in a strategic planning role, including the project management, development and implementation of strategic transport and land use planning related strategies, plans, studies, guidelines and policies in accordance with sound project management principles, delivering projects within agreed quality standards, timelines and budgets.
- Demonstrated the ability to provide high level specialist strategic transport and land use planning advice to a range of stakeholders, including in an advocacy role, to enable the delivery of effective strategic planning outcomes for the Council.
- Highly developed communication, facilitation and community engagement skills, including report writing and public presentation.
- The ability to provide a high standard of service to all customers of the Strategic Planning Team.
