Strategic Planner | Band 6 | Council based in Eastern Melbourne

**Your new company**
Hays have partnered with a high performing council based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne to recruit for a Strategic Planner on a permanent basis. This council is working on exciting new projects and are known for their vibrant and collegiate work culture.

**Your new role**
Within this role, you will be delivering a full range of quality town planning services and processing and evaluating requests for complex amendments. In addition, you will:

- Be involved in public consultations and mediations on major strategic planning matters.
- Represent Council’s interests in regard to planning panels.
- Administer delegations in accordance with the powers conferred in the instrument of delegations.
- Administer and enforce the Planning Scheme, and associated legislation.
- Coordinate Council compliance with amendment processes, including public exhibition, reports to Council and panel hearings.
- Monitor Planning Scheme amendments to ensure future potential for Council land is not compromised.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Relevant qualifications in Town Planning
- 2+ years previous experience as a Strategic Planner.
- Previous local government experience would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated understanding of planning in an urban environment with a strong knowledge of the Victoria Planning Provisions, State government policy and relevant legislation.
- Strong commitment to organisational and team values and behaviours.
