**About the Business Unit**:
The Naalamba Ganbu and Nerrlinggu Yilam (the Yilam) is responsible for leading the design, development, implementation and monitoring of Corrections Victoria policies, programs and services aimed at reducing the over-representation of Aboriginal people within the Victorian correctional system. The Yilam seeks to do this by working in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal community, related agencies, and Corrections Victoria staff to understand the needs of Aboriginal people in the correctional system to ensure effective policies, programs and services are in place. The Naalamba Ganbu and Nerrlinggu Yilam's motto is Our People, Our Priority, Our Pride. The Yilam sits within the Workforce and Aboriginal Outcomes Division of Corrections Victoria.
**About the Role**:
The Program Coordinator roles sits within the Naalamba Ganbu Nerrlinggu Yilam team (the Yilam) that works withing the Workforce and Aboriginal Outcomes division of Corrections Victoria. the positions main responsibility is the Yawal Mugadjina Cultural Mentoring Program.
As the Yawal Mugadjina Program Coordinator you will be coordinating program activities for the Yawal Mugadjina Cultural Mentoring Program (Yawal Mugadjina). Yawal Mugadjina is a Cultural Mentoring Program that provides Aboriginal men and women in Victorian prisons access to mentoring from Aboriginal Elders and Respected Persons. The program also allows for participants to commence a Cultural Journey that will link into services post release including Community Corrections and the Local Justice Worker program.
You will be responsible for coordinating the Yawal Mugadjina program and be the main point of contact supporting and liaising with Elders and Respected persons involved in the program. You will also develop strong working relationships with prison locations, working with Aboriginal Wellbeing Officers and other prison staff to ensure the program runs smoothly at each prison location.
You will be a part of a strong cultural, supportive and collaborative team where culture and its principles are central in all the work that we do. You will also be provided opportunities to engage in the Department of Justice and Community Safety's Koori Staff Network activities including the annual state-wide Koori Staff Network Conference and supported culturally and professionally to achieve your career aspirations.
Some of your duties will include:
- Coordinating the delivery of the Yawal Mugadjina Cultural Mentoring Program across the Victorian Prison system
- Liaising with Elders and Respected Persons and prison locations to schedule Yawal Mugadjina prison visits each month
- Leading the coordination of quarterly training activities for Elders and Respected Persons.

**About You**:
- A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Community, both society and culture and the issues impacting on it
- A demonstrated ability to communicate competently and sensitively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal community
- The ability to define tasks to be delivered in an effort to meet agreed outcomes while coordinating and guiding others in the execution of work activities.
- Qualifications/Requirements:_
- No relevant tertiary qualification is required - experience in dealing with the complex needs of Aboriginal people and community in complex environments and other relevant experience is highly desired.
