The Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning (DELWP) employs more than 4,800 staff in 91 locations across the state and brings together Victoria's climate change, biodiversity protection, resource recovery, water, energy, land management, planning and forest and fire management functions into a single department.
VicGrid is a division in DELWP's Energy Group that co-ordinates the planning and development of Victoria's Renewable Energy Zones (REZs), including overseeing investments to strengthen the transmission grid and unlock the potential of REZs. VicGrid is facilitating major transmission network upgrades in Victoria and implementing transmission planning reforms through the Victorian Transmission Investment Framework, which includes the development and delivery of transmission infrastructure projects.
Reporting to the Director Project Delivery, the Community and Stakeholder Lead will design and lead the implementation of a best practice strategy and framework for community and stakeholder engagement in relation to transmission infrastructure projects for VicGrid. This role will enable earlier and deeper engagement with communities and build effective social license, consistent with the objectives for community and stakeholder engagement in the Preliminary Victorian Transmission Investment Framework (VTIF). This will include developing and implementing tailored engagement strategies for a broad range of stakeholders including local communities, landholders and local council. Furthermore, this role will develop collateral to support these strategies and liaise with proponents during project delivery to implement the strategies as required throughout the project lifecycle.
To be successful in this role, you will be experienced in developing and implementing best practice community engagement models, to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects, ideally in energy, renewables or linear infrastructure. You will have extensive stakeholder engagement and management experience with project partners, community and traditional land owners, including presenting at community forums. Additionally, you will have demonstrated experience in preparing promotional and communication materials to advocate the broader community benefits of these projects. Tertiary qualifications in communication, media, public relations and stakeholder engagement will be highly regarded.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in stakeholder engagement, media, or public relations.
- Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and management for complex major projects, with experience in energy or renewables projects highly regarded.
- Strong experience in preparing promotional and communication materials.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 2.5 years.
