**The Opportunity**

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join the Environmental Planning team. The position reports to the Environmental Planning Manager.

The Environmental Systems Analyst is responsible for:

- Providing accurate, relevant and timely provision of spatial services and information.
- Providing GIS analysis and mapping for reports (including feasibility studies, site/route selection studies and environmental assessments).
- Ensuring and verifying the accuracy of GIS data
- Develop standard reporting for environmental assessments and ensuring data used in reports are up-to-date.
- Identifying any outstanding gaps/ risks in GIS data and addressing these risks.
- Engaging with internal stakeholders to deliver timely and efficient advice and information.
- GIS training of environmental staff.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Manage spatial systems_
- Configure and maintain standard GIS projects in GSA.
- Ensure version control of GIS data and projects.
- Ensure data and reports from GSA is accurate, current and fit for purpose in accordance with legislative requirements and business needs, including undertaking quality assurance checks.
- Identify any outstanding gaps/ risks in GIS data and address these risks.
- Contribute to the development of data processes which fulfil business and legal requirements.
- Foster and maintain professional relationships with appropriate external agencies and internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide support and training to environmental team members on the use of GSA.
- Spatial data analysis and mapping_
- Produce high quality maps for inclusion in reports (e.g. feasibility studies, site/ route selection, environmental impact assessments).
- Perform GIS queries and analysis functions for environmental staff.
- Obtain additional data as required for projects.
- Develop standard automated reporting using GSA for environmental assessments.
- Collection of spatial data_
- Verification of Aboriginal heritage site cards in Transgrid’s spatial system (TSS).
- Inclusion of consultant data into TSS using Transgrid’s standard data rules.
- Standardising GIS tools used and outputs used to capture project scope for inclusion into environmental assessments.

**Skills & Experience**

What we expect from you:

- Tertiary qualification at degree level in a spatial science, GIS or environmental engineering/ science related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in the use of geographic information systems related to environmental planning and management
- High level of written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to self-manage, work under pressure and work in a team environment
- A current driver’s licence
