Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

**Job Description**:

- Reporting to the Medium Term Planning Superintendent
- OC, the Mine Planning Coordinator will develop medium term plans for a Steelmaking Coal open cut operation. This is a Brisbane based role with monthly site travel required.

**The role will be rewarding and varied and will involve the following**:

- Development of the medium term mine planning deliverables for an open cut operation.
- Deliver mine pit designs (dig & dump) according to the defined Anglo American standards and geotechnical design guidelines.
- Deliver medium term mine production schedule considering balanced coal flow to maximise the utilisation of processing plant.
- Deliver landform and haulage planning to support production achieving a stable operation and progressive rehabilitation targets.
- Engage with site Technical peers to build an integrated 5 year mine plan for the Steelmaking Coal open cut operation.
- Ensure effective transfer of medium term planning strategies to site operations.
- Ensure Life of Asset planning for Steelmaking Coal operations are fully integrated in medium term planning.
- Governance of Anglo American Operating Model (AAOM) planning activities.
- Contribute to building a performance oriented culture that embraces inclusivity and values diversity, technical expertise, and provides a safe working practice for all.
- Continuously improve the processes and systems capability to optimise Steelmaking Coal’s compliance for medium term mine planning.

**Qualifications
- To be successful in this position you will ideally have experience in the following**:

- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6+ years’ experience in a similar diversified high level operational asset.
- Demonstrated Mining Engineering experience in open cut coal operations, including exposure to dragline, truck & shovel and blast processes.
- Proficient in Deswik CAD and DD modules.
- Proficient in Spry (database interrogation, scheduling, haulage).
- Familiar with financial metrics and budgeting tools.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated experience in risk management techniques and critical controls.
- Demonstrated experience in developing continuous improvement ideas.
- Knowledge of the QLD Coal Mining Legislation and Coal Mining practices.
