**About Autism Queensland**

**About the Role**

The role of the Client Services and Support Consultant (SDSS) is to provide information about autism, Autism Queensland (AQ) services and other supports relevant school-aged children on the autism spectrum and/or their parents/carers, family members and others working with them.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Provide guidance and information to families of recently diagnosed school-aged children to support their access to services and support
- Maintain an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of autism spectrum disorder, including a high level of awareness of evidence-based approaches and strategies to provide appropriate support to people contacting AQ
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of state and federal systems - e.g. Education, Health, and NDIS as relevant for school aged children
- Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of all AQ services and programs to ensure currency and effectiveness in supporting client enquiries and needs
- Maintain client records on AQ’s client database, prepare reports as requested and log client feedback into the Quality system
- Collect data as required by the Manager Client Services & Support and Manager Education Support
- Participate in School Advisory Service (SDSS) meetings as required

**Skills and Experience**
- Minimum tertiary degree qualification in Teaching, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology or Psychology
- Demonstrated understanding of child development and autism, and knowledge of current evidence-based practices
- Demonstrated currency of knowledge and proven practical experience of the Queensland education system, NDIS and other relevant supports for school-aged children with disability
- Highly effective interpersonal communication skills with proven ability to build effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively as a member of a team with proven time management and problem-solving skills
- High level working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and experience with customer data management systems
