**What does the business unit do?**

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS or the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.

Data, Digital and Insights (DDI) focuses on meeting the departments data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes. The specialist groups within DDI consist of Technology Solutions and Evidence and Insights.

Technology Solutions explores and employs modern technology to enable the department's business to function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services.

Evidence and Insights leads the DJCS data reporting, analytics and modelling program, outcomes measurement and evaluation services. It includes the Crime Statistics Agency and National Coronial Information System.

**What will the role do?**

The role of an Information Security Specialist is to:

- Assist Data, Digital and Insights (DDI) in determining Information Value Classification.
- Undertake audits and assessments, under the direction of the Manager, Enterprise Security Operations, of controls around IT systems to the VPDSF and VPDSS and perform IT and Information Risk Assessments.
- Liaise with DJCS business units and agencies, Service Providers and Partners to resolve issues, vulnerabilities, and mitigate cyber risks, and advise of changes to processes to ensure Information and Systems are secure.

**What skills should an Information Security Specialist have?**
- Understanding of IP Networking, Operating Systems, such as Windows (10, Server 2016), Unix/Linux, or comparable, Network Firewalls, their purpose and imitations.
- Understanding of programming in a scripting language, such as Windows PowerShell and/or bash/sh/csh/tcsh/python.
- Experience in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and other Microsoft Office tools, or open-source equivalents.
- Experience in, or knowledge of, Information and Cyber Security.
