**Position Overview**:
A fantastic opportunity exists for a high achieving, self-motivated and results driven leader to join our team based at our Brisbane site in Queensland as the site Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Officer.
As our new EHS Officer, you will partner with the site to manage the implementation and maintenance of their EHS Safety Management System (SMS) and provide hands on technical expertise to deliver health & safety outcomes aligned to Hexion’s corporate EHS Policies.
This role will be ideally suited to someone who has a chemical/ engineering/ manufacturing background with sound EHS and process safety knowledge/experience.
Reporting to the Senior Manager EHS/MHF, some of the duties and responsibilities will include:
**Responsibilities**:
**Regulatory Compliance**
- Coordinate the site compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations including MHF regulations and all permit requirements.
- Assist with EH&S record keeping
- Support and review site emergency programs
**Operational EHS Management**
- Coordinate and participate in EHS performance improvement initiatives
- Monitor the use of the site Process Safety Management (PSM) processes, emergency response and other safety programs.
- Participate in reviewing work method statements, job safety analysis and ensure permit to work controls are identified and adhered to in the field
- Support and participate in the site Safety Committee
- Conduct site safety interactions to demonstrate a visible management presence in the field
**Auditing & Management Systems**
- Co-ordinate and maintain the site Safety Management System elements.
- Participate in site internal-audits and participate in external and corporate EHS and Process Safety audits.
- Monitor closure of audit actions and outcomes.
- Monitor completion levels for the sites training activities.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
**About You**
- Relevant qualifications in engineering, chemistry, environmental or occupational health sciences or equivalent combination of training & experience
- Familiar with safety and environmental regulations including air, wastewater, storm water, solid and hazardous waste regulations
- Experience with Safety Management System administration and implementation
- Natural curiosity and desire to participate in a high performing team
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Confident and effective communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
- A Strong commitment to upholding standards and processes
- Experience working at a Major Hazard Facility would be an advantage.
