**The Opportunity**
The Engagement Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the NIAA to work in genuine partnership and enable self-determination of First Nations Communities. The job is crucial in building collaborative relationships with First Nations People and communities to ensure effective policy implementation that aligns to aspirations of First Nations Communities. Delivering high-quality services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities, through effective management of daily activities and collaborative leadership are critical to the success of the role.
By fostering strong internal and external relationships, especially with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, and providing expert guidance and constructive feedback, they contribute to business improvement and uphold a healthy, ethical workplace aligned with APS standards. This role is essential for ensuring high-quality service delivery and successful project execution within the branch, benefiting both the team and the communities they serve.
This position is part of the place-based team located in Toowoomba. The South Queensland Region (SQR) and Toowoomba sub-region covers communities including Charleville, Cunnamulla, Goondiwindi and Cherbourg. Work travel is required as part of the Engagement Officer Role. Additional travel to other NIAA sites across the network including Canberra, may be required.

This role includes the following duties and is expected to be conducted with limited direction:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide high quality information in a clear concise manner

- clear understanding of the matters impacting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples and high-level capability and commitment to continue to develop cultural competency.

**Eligibility**
To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen.
A current drivers license, not a learners license.
