An exciting opportunity is available to help build capability in the world’s largest volunteer fire agency. Based at the NSW Rural Fire Service State Headquarters in Sydney Olympic Park, you will join our Community Engagement Team of six, to research, design and deliver new and updated training.

The Community Engagement Team works to ensure that the residents of NSW are equipped with the skills and knowledge to protect themselves and their property from fire and other emergencies. RFS volunteer members deliver many of our community engagement programs and activities, therefore building the capability within the NSW RFS members, is vital to the success of the team.

The goal of this role is to integrate best practice community engagement into a learning and development framework. You will work closely with program designers as well as RFS members across NSW, to research, design and deliver training.

A strong understanding of vocational training and assessment is required.

An understanding and familiarity with emergency services or volunteering is important for this role specifically the role of community engagement in preparedness.
- A passion for and proven experience in designing training programs.
- Robust understanding of emergency services training culture, policies and framework
- An understanding of role of community engagement in building community resilience and preparedness in the community
- An ability to build rapport with the NSW RFS members
- Preference will be given to those with Certificate IV in training and assessment
