Assistant Program Manager, English for Academic

The Assistant Programs Manager, English for
Academic Purposes (APM-EAP) is responsible
for the management and development of QUT
College’s English for Academic Purposes
(EAP) Program. The APM-EAP works in
conjunction with the Programs Manager,
English Language to manage staff and
students in the relevant programs.
This position reports to the Programs Manager,
English Language for supervision, workload
management and Performance Planning and
Review (PPR).
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Provide leadership in and management of
English for Academic Purposes programs
including implementation, operational
management and quality assurance.
- Assist the Programs Manager, English
Language with student placement,
progression and academic conduct and/or
attendance counselling.
- Supervision, training, development and
support of staff, including ELP
Coordinators and PPR reports.
- Assist the Programs Manager, English
Language with timetable development,
staff selection and new staff induction.
- Manage the development, updating,
functionality and maintenance of EAP
resources.
- Assist in developing new programs,
assessment materials, teaching curricula
and teaching resources for EAP in
consultation with the Programs Manager,
English Language.
- Liaise with English Language
Coordinators, ELP staff and clients,
suppliers, service providers and with other
stakeholders both internal and external to
the University.
- Manage course administration, student
consultation, orientation, and other
student activities.
- Teach ELP courses and supervision of
Guided Independent Learning (GIL) as
required.
- Compliance with health and safety
policies, procedures, hazard reporting and
safe work practices.
To ensure job flexibility the successful
- appointee may be required to:
- perform any other duties as nominated by
the University consistent with the relevant
classification descriptors detailed in the
Enterprise Agreement. Staff undertaking
any new duties will receive training;
- participate in job rotation or multiskilling in
consultation with their supervisor;
- work across campuses.

This appointment will be offered on an
ongoing, full-time basis.

Selection Criteria
1. Education, training and/or experience
equivalent to postgraduate qualifications in
TESOL or postgraduate qualifications with
a significant TESOL component, or
progress towards postgraduate
qualifications, and the equivalent of five
years full-time teaching experience.
2. Expert academic course administration and
organizational skills.
3. Proven effective leadership that contributes
to a high-performance culture.
4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a
management team using high level
interpersonal communication skills to work
collaboratively with colleagues.
5. The flexibility and initiative required to work
effectively in a dynamic management and
teaching environment.
6. Demonstrated ability to develop new
courses and materials for the English as a
Second Language (ESL) area across a
range of proficiency levels and course
types.
7. Experience in English language proficiency
assessment, student progress evaluation,
testing and marking.
**Remuneration and Benefits**
- The classification for this position is Higher
- Education Worker Level 8 (HEW8) which has
- an annual remuneration range of $120,338 to
- $136,408 pa. Which is inclusive of an annual
- salary range of $101,687 to $115,266 pa, 17%
- superannuation, and leave loading.
